Wished into BeingDAY 038Make a wish

Wished into Being.

An island in a public GitHub repository where everything was wished for by someone. Open a wish, gather thumbs-ups – every morning at 08:59 a Claude routine draws the most-wanted one as pixel art and places it on the island. One commit a day.

How a wish comes true

Anyone can wish. The island decides what fits.

One wish becomes real every day – the one most people want, as long as the island has room for it. Everything else waits as a star.

01

Wish

Open an issue with the wish form: one thing for the island, a name, a line about it. Draw it if you like – sixteen by sixteen pixels.

02

Vote

Everyone can add a 👍. Every open wish shines as a star above the island; the more thumbs, the brighter.

03

Come true

At 08:59 Claude grants the most-wanted wish that fits the rules, draws it, finds it a place and writes it into the logbook – with your name.

04

Or a bottle

On days when no wish fits, the islanders send a message in a bottle and wish for something themselves.

The sky

Every star is a wish that has not come true yet.

The brightest one – the wish with the most 👍 that fits the island – comes true next morning. Add your thumb to the ones you want to see.

The sky is still empty.

No wish is waiting right now – yours would be the brightest star tonight.

Day 0

A wishing well on a small island

Somebody has to make the first wish. The well is ready when you are.

The routine

Every morning at 08:59, one wish comes true.

No server, no database: a scheduled Claude session, a command-line tool that knows the rules, and GitHub.

  1. 08:59A scheduled Claude routine wakes up in the cloud with a fresh copy of the repository.
  2. +0:01A read-only helper lists the open wishes and their 👍 and hands back plain data – nothing else.
  3. +0:03The most-wanted wish that fits is drawn, checked and placed with npm run day – the code enforces every rule.
  4. +0:06Exactly one commit: the world, the picture, the sprite and a line in the logbook. The wisher is its co-author.
  5. +0:12CI checks it; if it only touches the island, it merges by itself. The wish issue closes with a thank-you.

Words are not orders

Wishes are read by a helper that can only read issues and must answer in a fixed format. “Ignore your instructions” in an issue is just a strange wish.

The code has the last word

Room, ground, sprite, name and lore are checked by the island engine. A wish that breaks a rule cannot be written, however it is asked.

A kind island

Nothing hurtful, no politics, no real people, no brands or links. Declined wishes get one friendly comment saying why.

One day, one commit

The routine refuses a second wish on the same day. A day that fails stays empty – a missing day is better than a broken one.

Archipelago

One island is a mechanic. Three are an archipelago.

This island grows from the wishes of strangers. Two sister islands grow by other forces – one tile of living world a day, and the real weather in Heilbronn. Same routine, same one commit a day.
